Meet the Doctors

Dr. K. Christine Lim, D.C., BCAO, FIAMA

Dr. Kum-Hui Christine Lim completed her B.S. in Biology and received her Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1997, graduating with honors.  She completed her internships at the Bayview Chiropractic Center in Tampa, Florida and at the R.W. Sweat Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.  Dr. Lim is board certified in the Atlas Orthogonal (BCAO) method, she is certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and is licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine. 

In 1998 Dr. Lim opened her own practice in Alexandria, Virginia. In 2004 she and her husband, Dr.Garry Krakos, joined practices and in 2007 founded the Spine Arts Center in Springfield, Virginia.
Dr.Lim has received extensive graduate and post-graduate training in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of spine, joint, muscle and pain related disorders. She specializes in the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) method and in the alignment and balance of the body, particularly the spine and nervous system. As a natural practitioner of the healing arts, Dr. Lim sees patients as more than the sum of their parts, and works with her patients not only to alleviate pain but to achieve optimal health.
Dr. Lim has received advanced training in child care techniques and enjoys the opportunity to care for infants through their teen years. She also has studied extensively with the Spine Research Institute of San Diego under Dr. Arthur Croft in the field of whiplash injuries.
Dr. Lim’s heritage as a Korean born American has influenced her additional studies in the ancient healing art of acupuncture. She is a Fellow in the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture (FIAMA).
Dr. Lim maintains memberships in numerous organizations including the Atlas Orthogonal Foundation, the International Academy of Medical Acupuncturists and the Virginia Chiropractic Association.

 

Dr. Garry T. Krakos, D.C., M.S., BCAO 

 Dr. Garry Krakos has over 35 years experience in the field of health care and chiropractic.  He received his doctor of chiropractic degree (D.C.) from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1979, graduating with honors.  He completed his undergraduate B.S. degree from the State University of New York,  later education included completing a Masters degree in Health Care Administration from the Unversity of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois in 1999.  Dr. Krakos opened the Family Chiropractic Center in Wautoma, Wisconsin in 1980 providing chiropractic primary care services to a largely rural population.

In 1987 Dr. Krakos returned to his alma mater in what would become an extensive career in teaching, writing, research, administration and international relations and service.  His teaching career included five years as Dean of Clinics and Director of Clinics. In the classroom he was awarded numerous "Faculty of the Year" awards.  Dr. Krakos founded the International Office at Palmer College and developed the international Clinic Abroad Program providing humanitarian care around the world.  He was instrumental in the founding and development of the first chiropractic college in South America at FEEVALE University in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil.

Dr. Krakos has authored several texts on the subject of x-ray physics and has lectured nationally and internationally.  He was an invited delegate of the World Federation of Chiropractic to the WHO in Geneva, Switzerland.  He has been an instructor in the Atlas Orthogonal method at Sherman College of Chiropractic.  Dr. Krakos served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1972 to 1975 and is a Vietnam era veteran.

He currently practices with his wife, Dr. Kum-Hui Lim, at the Spine Arts Center in Springfield, Virginia specializing in the Atlas Orthogonal method, while utilizing his extensive background to treat the whole patient in a knowledgable and caring manner.

Meet Our Staff

Sherry Sooknanan

Sherry migrated to the U.S. from the "wonderful island of Trinidad and Tobago approximately 13 years ago with my husband and daughter, now 14. I have been blessed to be married for 17 years and our little family has grown to four with the addition of our son, now 10.  I am a trained vocalist, and have studied business and worked in the business field for almost 20 years.  I love meeting people and in my down time love catching up with my friends over coffee.  When I'm not at work I'm busy with family, teaching music, working with bands and singing.  I am an active member of New Hope Church and sing in the worship band.  I am excited to work at Spine Arts Center and look forward to great success." 

Carlos Tobon, CMT

Carlos Tobon is a graduate of one of the most intensive and highly respected massage programs in the country, The Academy of Healing Arts in Florida. In addition to his rigorous education, Carlos is a gifted administrator of his skills. He integrates years of knowledge gained from experience and education with his fine tuned skills of perception to yield a balanced massage session custom tailored to each client's specific needs.

Truly a practitioner of "intelligent touch", his massage is ideal for clients who enjoy the focused work of Deep Tissue Massage as well as for those who like the relaxing strokes of Swedish Massage.  In every interaction he applies "energy work" gained from his experience as a Reiki Master and draws from his continuing education classes in areas such as lymphatic drainage, neuromuscular and energy balancing techniques.

When he is not working Carlos enjoys studying, relaxing and spending time with his family and friends.
